Offers to repair washing machines have become the most common type of fraud in the household services sector in Russia. Alla Khrapunova, curator and expert of the “Moshelovka” project, spoke about this in an interview with Sputnik radio, reports RIA News.

She explained that their team often receives letters about criminals deceiving owners of washing machines. This most often happens to people who are looking for appliance repair services. At the moment, this is the most common fraud, Khrapunova emphasized.

She revealed how deception most often occurs: a person finds a repair specialist, negotiates the cost of the work, the scammer comes and takes away some part “for diagnostics.” Then he calls and tells the client that the cost of repairs has increased dramatically – 2 or 3 times. As a result, the person either agrees to pay more, or the scammer disappears along with the part.

Khrapunova pointed out that such advertisements can be found even on trusted Internet resources. Therefore, the best way to protect yourself from deception is to rely on the experience and recommendations of your friends.
