The leader of the Azerbaijani mafia from a Russian city was detained
Nine people were detained as part of a criminal case involving attacks on passers-by in St. Petersburg. Lenta.ru was informed about this by the press service of the city administration of the Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR).
Among those detained is the leader of the group, which its members called the Azerbaijani mafia. His name is Tural Mamedov, noted Lenta.ru’s source in law enforcement agencies.
They are all charged with hooliganism motivated by national hatred and enmity.
According to investigators, in 2023, a group of young people provoked fights with residents of St. Petersburg and beat them.
With the sanction of the court, some members of the group have already been taken into custody.
The investigation began after the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, ordered to check videos spread on the Internet showing beatings of passers-by by immigrants from Azerbaijan.
