The court upheld the verdict of the founder of Group-IB in the treason case

The First Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction recognized as legal the 14-year sentence for the founder of Group-IB, Ilya Sachkov, in the case of high treason. This is reported by TASS.

The court did not satisfy the complaint of Sachkov’s defense. The meeting was held behind closed doors.

On August 7, the lawyer of the founder of Group-IB filed an appeal against his client’s sentence. Sachkov himself insisted on his innocence throughout the investigation and trial and demanded acquittal.

Sachkov was sentenced to 14 years in a maximum security colony on July 26. Testimony against him was given by ex-FSB officer Sergei Mikhailov, also convicted of treason. He claimed that Sachkov allegedly gave the FBI data on Russian hackers.
