Mayor of Tulun Yuri Karikh detained on suspicion of fraud

Law enforcement officers detained the mayor of the city of Tulun, Irkutsk region, on suspicion of fraud in relocating people from dilapidated and dilapidated housing. This was reported by the press service of the ICR Investigative Committee for the region.

“According to investigators, in 2019, the mayor of Tulun, together with subordinate employees of the municipal administration, developed and subsequently implemented a criminal scheme to illegally move people into emergency housing,” the department noted.

Afterwards, these people were resettled as citizens in need of new real estate. The case is currently under investigation. The Investigative Committee clarified that five more defendants have now been charged with fraud, including the ex-chairman of the Tulun City Hall KUMI.

Previously, FederalPress reported that Yuri Karikh was in the Investigative Committee – initially he was interrogated as a witness. After that, he went to work in a great mood and took part in a video recording, where he explained that he had not been detained, contrary to rumors.
