Israel-Hamas conflict: 28 French people killed according to a new report

The toll of French people killed by Hamas rises to 28 people, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “France deplores the tragic death of new French nationals, which brings the toll of French victims to 28,” declared Anne-Claire Legendre, director of communications and press at the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

She clarified that “seven compatriots (were) still missing”, some of whom were hostages of Hamas. On Monday, October 16, the video of a hostage was broadcast for the first time: Mia Shem, a 21-year-old Franco-Israeli who was at the festival Tribe of Nova at the time of the Hamas attack, spoke on camera. Held in the Gaza Strip, she asked to be taken out “as quickly as possible”.

His family then explained on Tuesday October 17 at a press conference that they remained hopeful. Government spokesperson Olivier Véran declared the same day on RTL: “We owe it to Mia to mobilize everything to free her”, “as well as the hundreds of other hostages, all nationalities combined”. As a reminder, Hamas is holding nearly 200 hostages.
