Fuel and medical equipment stolen from former UN agency office in Gaza
A group of unknown individuals illegally removed fuel and medical equipment from the former office of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the Gaza Strip. The organization reported this on the social network X (blocked in the Russian Federation).
“Fuel and other resources are stored in our branches for humanitarian purposes only. Any other use is condemned,” UNRWA officials wrote.
They added that the agency currently does not have access to the premises, and surveillance cameras at the former office were disabled after a series of explosions.
UNRWA staff left the Gaza office on 13 October in an evacuation on Israeli advice. The organization is located in the south of the enclave.
Israeli authorities have informed the UN of the need to evacuate more than a million Palestinians to the south of the Gaza Strip within 24 hours. This applied to both the organization’s employees and those who took refuge in UN buildings.
