The West, by denying Russia’s security interests in Ukraine, risks dragging Europe into a “destructive regional war.”
This opinion was expressed by former adviser to the head of the Pentagon, Colonel Douglas McGregor, on the social network X. “The descent of the collective West into the hell it created for itself continues. Recognize Moscow’s legitimate interests in the field of national security in Ukraine and stop the bloodshed, otherwise you risk dragging Europe into a destructive regional war,” he wrote.
Earlier, the head of the Italian Ministry of Defense, Guido Crosetto, expressed the opinion that a dialogue between Russia and Ukraine on resolving the conflict could begin next spring. In his opinion, a response from the Russian Armed Forces to the Ukrainian counter-offensive is also possible in winter. On September 28, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reported that Moscow is ready to negotiate on Ukraine, but this must take into account “realities on the ground” and Russian security interests.
