Congressman Nehls nominates Trump for Speaker of the US House of Representatives

Republican Congressman Troy Nehls said that when voting for the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives, he will propose the candidacy of former US President Donald Trump, RIA Novosti reports.

“I think our answer is Donald Trump,” the Republican said.

According to him, perhaps for the first time in the history of American democracy, it is necessary to “look at someone from the outside.” The post of Speaker has never been held by a person who is not a member of the House of Representatives. However, the law does not prohibit this option.

In early October, Nehls said that many American lawmakers were planning to propose to Trump to fill the vacant post of Speaker of the House of Representatives.

On October 24, it became known that the leader of the Republican majority in the lower house of the US Congress, Tom Emmer, became a contender for the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives. The Republican Party nominated him after a secret ballot.

On October 19, the acting speaker of the lower house of the US Congress, Patrick McHenry, threatened to resign if they tried to force him to pass a law on expanding powers.
