Congress assessed the possibility of a shutdown

The United States is not facing a government shutdown in the coming days. This assessment was given by the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy. His words are conveyed TASS.

“Look, this is about October 1, we still have a certain number of days,” he said.

McCarthy expressed the opinion that, at a decisive moment, members of Congress would eventually change their position.

He clarified that some Republicans in the House of Representatives continue to refuse to vote on accepting government funding until their terms are accepted. The Speaker of the House of Representatives himself stressed that he does not see any victory in the suspension of government activities and payments to border patrol or coast guard employees.

Earlier, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that various US departments were preparing a plan in case of a shutdown. However, she said the best plan now is to avoid cutting off government funding.
