Alexander Ovechkin failed to score for the Capitals for the second time in a row at the start of the new season. This win was Washington’s first in the regular season.
Last season, Ovechkin appeared in 74 NHL regular season games, scoring 42 goals and 33 assists. However, this did not help the Capitals reach the tournament’s playoffs. The Russian currently has 822 goals in his NHL career.
