Kuznetsov’s bullet helped Washington defeat Calgary
The Washington Capitals won at home against the Calgary Flames in the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season game. The regular playing time ended with the score 2:2. Matthew Phillips and Connor McMichael scored for Washington.
Adam Ruzicka and Dillon Dube scored for Calgary. The spectators did not see any goals scored in extra time. Evgeny Kuznetsov scored the winning goal for Washington. Alexander Ovechkin failed to score for the Capitals for the second time in a row at the start of the new season. This win was Washington’s first in the regular season.
Last season, Ovechkin appeared in 74 NHL regular season games, scoring 42 goals and 33 assists. However, this did not help the Capitals reach the tournament’s playoffs. The Russian currently has 822 goals in his NHL career.
The gap to Gretzky is 72 goals. The Canadian has scored 894 goals and remains ranked first among sharpshooters in NHL history.
