Karpin called the most problematic position in the Russian national team

Head coach of the Russian national team Valery Karpin answered a question from journalists about the most problematic position in the Russian national team before a friendly match with football players from Kenya. His words are quoted by Sport Express.

“The central defender position. Apart from (George) Dzhikia and (Maxim) Osipenko, there are few players who play all the time. Look for yourself, you can see everything for yourself,” Karpin said.

The national teams of Russia and Kenya will meet at the Mardan Stadium in Turkey on October 16 at 7:00 p.m. Moscow time. Dzhikia will be able to help the Russian team and Osipenko will miss the game due to injury.

On October 12, Russian football players defeated the Cameroon national team 1-0 in a friendly match. The goal was scored by CSKA striker Fedor Chalov.

The International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) decided in spring 2022 to exclude the Russian national team and all Russian clubs from participating in all competitions controlled by these organizations. The men’s national team was unable to play a game to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
