Former UFC champion McGregor called Russian Makhachev stupid
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) two-weight champion Conor McGregor insulted current lightweight champion Islam Makhachev on social media.
“This guy is an idiot. This is what happens when relatives sleep together and have a baby. This is the result,” wrote the Irishman.
This is how McGregor reacted to Makhachev’s statement, who criticized the pound-for-pound valuation at a press conference.
On February 12, Makhachev defeated Australia’s Alex Volkanovski by unanimous decision after five rounds at the UFC 284 tournament in Perth. For the Russian, this victory was the 24th in his professional career with a defeat. This is Makhachev’s first title defense. In total he fought 25 fights in his career, won 24 and suffered only one defeat.
On October 21, the UFC 294 tournament will take place in Abu Dhabi (UAE), where Makhachev will have to defend his title in a fight with Charles Oliveira. But the Brazilian was injured in training and is replaced by Volkanovski.
