Israel is in talks with SpaceX to use Starlink
Israel is discussing with Elon Musk’s SpaceX the possibility of using the Starlink satellite communications system to bolster wartime communications services. About it reports Bloomberg, citing a source in the Israeli Ministry of Communications.
“Israel is in talks with Elon Musk-owned SpaceX to use Starlink to enhance wartime communications ahead of the expected ground operation in the Gaza Strip,” the text reads.
The agency’s interlocutor noted that this satellite network will play a backup role; the country plans to resort to its services only in the event of failure of other systems. Thus, according to him, this agreement with SpaceX is considered in Israel as a guarantor of uninterrupted Internet access in border settlements.
At the same time, Bloomberg’s source indicated that Israel plans to cut off the Internet and telephone communications in the Gaza Strip.
