The Foreign Ministry said that demand for visas to Russia has increased in Europe
Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexey Klimov said that Russia issued 57% more visas to European countries in the first nine months of this year than during the same period in 2022. RIA Novosti reports this.
According to him, from January 1 to September 30, 2023, foreign agencies of the Russian Foreign Ministry in European countries issued 225 thousand visas of all categories, of which 141 thousand were tourist.
“Compared to the same period in 2022, the total number of visas issued decreased by 10%, while the issuance of tourist visas increased by 57%,” Klimov said.
He added that these figures are far from 2019, when 1.645 million visas of all types were issued over the same period of time.
Before this, it became known that the Thai authorities are preparing to introduce a 90-day visa-free regime for tourists from Russia.
At the same time, the easing of the visa regime will become a temporary measure and will continue to operate from November 1, 2023 to April 30, 2024, if the initiative is supported.
Previously, Russians were named countries in which they can profitably relax.
