Five mummies over a thousand years old discovered in Peru
Peruvian archaeologists during excavations near the Rimac River in the province of Lima discovered five mummies, more than a thousand years old. The agency writes about this Andina.
According to the agency, the mummies were discovered at the Huaca la Florida archaeological site and are highly likely to belong to the Manchay culture.
Archaeologists explained that the remains presumably belong to four children and one adult.
According to experts, the mummies will be removed from the excavation site in the near future so that scientists can continue their research. In particular, archaeologists intend to study the tissues found in the burial bundles.
In addition, a staircase was discovered during the excavations. Its age is about 3.5 thousand years.
